Nose that's been broken multiple times; freckles; scar on wrist. Older Hob has spidery shrapnel scars all over and a big hole in his chest. Dresses neatly, fairly conservatively; ties, collars, coats, cricket whites. Irons his clothes.

personality
If anything, Hob is kind - [Terra Nova by Ted Tally voice] the worst kind of decent man. He genuinely wants to help and be good, and has difficulty (even now) believing that the world can be an awful place. It doesn't come from naivety but a conviction too strong to be let go. Where will you find the rules? In myself. He's prone to bouts of depression, confusion, and hopelessness, and can at times retreat into himself - especially after the war. Definitely repressed. Doesn't like to talk about himself. Very good at following rules, less good at improvising. Too soft. Has a DNF (Does Not Fuck) reputation.
